Longmere Consultants and I met at a local business networking event run by Better Business Forum in Berwick Northumberland. John at Longmere wasn’t happy with their current logo which was simply a wordmark in a serif font which, “said nothing about the company”.
After a consultation on what aspects of his branding he’d like to work on John decided to hire me as a designer to create a new logo design for the company.
Starting with a brand Q&A I was able to research into the companies values. John put a lot of thought into the answers about his brand values and company image which was very helpful for the creative process.
Sometimes the most abstract answers can be the key to really getting to know what it is that will represent the company most effectively in a logo design.
Key elements in John’s responses jumped out for me: Quality and formality, which I would incorporate into the styling. Discovering that the idea of ‘knights’/’knights in shining armour’ was a key company value John wanted to represent in his logo, as well as the idea of linking and connecting people as the company aim.
The logo design and development was based around these ideas, the linking typography is one of the key bespoke features that makes the logo so unique and the way in which the linear structure of the horse symbol sits against the letters has a good sense of strength and authority about it – something which is key for Longmere’s customers to feel about their business.
Here’s how it went design wise…
3 initial concepts.
Development of the preferred style.
Further development of colour and style.
Finished main logo.
Option to use logo in black.
Header backgrounds for use in social media cover images.
And here’s the clients comment..
“Having been in business for over 12 years, I wanted to create a personal image for our company for client and potential clients to be brand aware of our company.
Having thought about this for some time, the clear way forward was to have a Logo professionally created.
Shopping around and speaking with a number of providers, I eventually knew I had found not only a company that understood what I wanted to convey within the logo, but one that was prepared to go the extra mile and work with me to produce a professional but cost effective brand awareness style logo; that being Helen at One Line Studio.
I found Helen to be a true professional. Not only in her approach ensuring she understood our requirements but ensuring I was happy with the end result. Helen took a personal pride in the end product ensuring that a top end logo was created.
I would have no hesitations in recommending One Line Studio; as I’m sure once you engage with Helen, she will ensure you also receive the same excellent service that we did- thanks Helen.”
