Profiling the customer base Berwick 900 wanted us to look at a logo that was imaginative and community minded. Discovering through our research a whole host of stories about Berwick’s heritage was inspiring and we were able to pull out key identities which told the story of history and culture in the town.
Each icon used within the form of the well-known Berwick bear symbol represents a part of Berwick’s story. From the riding of the bounds through to the infamous River Tweed, swans and bridges.
Colour played a key factor here as we were delighted to unearth the historical fact that Berwick is the only town in England awarded permission to use the Royal English Red and Royal Scottish Blue in its coat of arms without a fur or metal to separate it, as must be done by other towns.
Every aspect of the logo represents a local story which helped Berwick 900 to visually communicate to potential funders the value of the event. They then went on to secure heritage lottery funding and the in-house team went on to display the logo on their website, we helped with printed material and signage.
