Brand Identity, Women Friendly Leeds

Who run the world – girls!

The challenge: The Leeds Women’s Hub has been developing the Women Friendly Leeds concept for the past two years. The Hub is essential in shaping the initiative and will be a key way for women to share their voice and let us know what they want from a Women Friendly Leeds. We are looking for a logo design, strapline and basic brand toolkit. The design should connect the hub with the Women Friendly Leeds initiative whilst also being a logo in its own right.

Client feedback: “We have a long-established relationship with the team at One Line Design, who fit within our ethos of being women’s centred and women’s led. They have worked with us in a very flexible and professional way, to help us maximise our work and project.
Our most recent pieces of work focus on the development of our annual highlights report, which captures the activities of our projects.
Importantly they have worked with us to develop a ‘Women Friendly City’ brand, which will support us in our movement to make Leeds an even better city for women.
The brand includes having a toolkit that gives us the right materials to use on a variety of social media platforms, which for a movement of this size is essential to gain ambassadors and supporters. We would recommend Helen and One Line to others based on the simple facts of them being flexible, approachable and tolerant – especially when we wish to make last-minute changes.” Jeanette Morris-Boam, Women’s Lives Leeds

What we did: This is absolutely our favourite kind of project hands down!

Report design calls on expertise in, and passion for typesetting.

We got to work understanding why and how Women Friendly Leeds came about. Inspired by the UN’s Women Friendly Cities initiative Leeds is the first city in the UK to receive funding to help Leeds become a more accessible city for women. With the mindset that a city which is better for women is ultimately better for everyone, the initiative can work in tandem with Leeds City Council’s Best City Plan.

Following on from in-depth creative research and workshop conducted for the hub branding a secondary women’s owl was created with a bespoke colour scheme which contrasts beautifully with the hub logo.

Supporting brand guidelines were created showing how to use the logo in different spaces and scenarios, as well as with or without the strapline.

Further guidance was given on how to prepare typography, photography and layouts for marketing communications in-line with the empowering values the brand stands for.

Even better: Aspiring for a better city for everyone
